Mystery novelist Ariadne Oliver is organizing a "murder hunt" game for a charity fête at the estate of Sir George and Lady Stubbs when she feels an intuitive sense that something is wrong and calls her friend Hercule Poirot for assistance. Despite her lack of concrete reasons, Poirot trusts her instincts and investigates the various guests and residents of the house.
